About
The Professional Development Planner assesses teaching skills against the Cambridge English Teaching Framework (CETF) and recommends training resources to help teachers develop further.
About the Cambridge English Teaching Framework
The CETF sets out five categories of teaching knowledge and skill; Learning and the Learner; Teaching Learning and Assessment; Language Ability; Language Knowledge and Awareness for Teaching; and Professional Development and Values. Each category is divided into four stages of teacher competency: Foundation; Developing; Proficient; and Expert, to help teachers understand their strengths and plan their development. Learn more about the CETF.
How the Professional Development Planner works
The planner contains five questionnaires, one for each category of the CETF. After completing each questionnaire teachers will receive a report showing their current stage of competency and a list of recommended courses to help them progress. Results are provided separately for each category so they can complete the whole assessment in one session or focus on individual areas as required.
Additional features for institutions include:
- Access to teachers’ self-assessment reports showing where they are positioned for each category of the Cambridge English Teaching Framework and helping to prioritise areas for their development.
- Recommended training courses and resources for each teacher so that managers can work with them to create a development programme tailored to their needs
